Firm-Level Concentration of Chinese Exports in Individual Markets

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This work explores the industry-level concentration of Chinese exports across markets. The findings of this work indicate that market size and market income level are the two key market characteristics influencing industry-level Chinese export concentration. Increases in market size reduce Chinese export concentration, while rises in market income level amplify it. Effects of market size and income level are mediated through the quantity and heterogeneity of Chinese exporters, with the impact of the former channel dominating in both instances. Robustness tests affirm the reliability of the findings.
