Abstract

Flt3 ligand (FL) is a transmembrane protein that binds to Flt3, a fms-like tyrosine kinase three receptor, and triggers the intracellular signaling cascade that leads to the proliferation and development of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitor cells as well as the development of the immune system. For most activities, FL has modest effects by itself; however, FL manifests potent co-stimulating activity and actively synergizes with other cytokines for optimal biological effects.
