title = "Frequency domain methods for fan exhaust noise prediction",
abstract = "This paper describes a methodology for the prediction of fan exhaust noise propagation. The linearized Euler equations are solved in the frequency domain using the Streamline Upwind Petrov Galerkin method. The far field radiation is calculated using a frequency domain permeable surface Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings solver. The solver is validated for a simple source in stationary and moving streams. Both analytical and numerical solutions are used as the test input on the acoustic data surface. Calculations are presented of fan exhaust noise radiation from the Advanced Noise Control Facility at the NASA Glenn Research Center. Comparisons are made between the predicted and measured far field noise. The effects of both the numerical parameters as well as operating conditions on the noise predictions are also presented.",
