Frequency up-converted lasing of nanocrystal quantum-dots in microbeads

Abstract

Frequency up-converted lasing emission at visible wavelengths was observed from nanocrystal-infiltrated silica microbeads, which has been explained by the coupling of the two-photon pumped biexciton gain to the whispering gallery mode in a spherical microcavity.
