Abstract

This paper deals with the construction of optimal command inputs to eliminate residual vibration in a flexible structure with single and multiple modes as well. First, the time-optimal command inputs are generated by direct parametric optimization with Lagrangian multipliers. Next, the command input is generated in the form of a sequence of step commands via the method of quadratic programming in which the sum of squares of step commands is minimized. The results from numerical simulations are presented.
