Abstract
Genetic testing is relevant for understanding health and ancestry in four key ways: genetic ancestry testing; assisted reproductive technologies; genetic disease susceptibility testing; and the promise of personalized medicine. This entry briefly reviews the key terms and characteristics of each of these forms of genetic testing.
