Abstract
Remote sensing systems produce a large volume of spatial data and the major tool for effective utilization of such data is the Geographic Information System. The authors review the current state-of-the-art in GIS with some case studies. Problems related to the effective designing and implementation of GIS are mentioned. Finally, frameworks for effective integration of remote sensing with GIS are given.-M.Alam Dept Computer Science, SUNY at Buffalo, Amherst, NY 14260, USA.
