Abstract

The use of geovisualization process to support knowledge construction and decision making is discussed. Geovisualization is a process for leveraging geospatial data resources to meet scientific and social needs and a research field that develops visual methods and tools to support a wide variety of geospatial data applications. The geovisualization process integrates approaches from information visualization, exploratory data analysis (EDA) and image analysis with cartographic and geographic processes to provide theory, methods and tools for visual exploration, analysis and presentation of geospatial data. The challenges in applying the geovisualization technology in the wide range of domain are also presented.
