Abstract
Tetragonal scheelite-like single crystals Na0.95K0.05Y(WO4)2 have been grown in air by using RF-heating Czochralski (CZ) method. Crystal growth was carried out along <100>, <001> and <101> directions. The (101) facets are strongly exposed. Crystals grown along <100> and <101> directions always show cleavage along (001) faces. The relation of growth habits with structure was discussed. The unit-cell parameters of the undoped crystals were calculated as a = b = 0.5209 nm, c = 1.1290 nm, V = 0.3064 nm3. Transmittance spectra of the crystals doped with Nd3+ ions have also been included as a first approach to the optical behavior of the grown crystals.
