Abstract
Health is a fundamental part of being a productive human being. "Economists regard expenditures on education, training, medical care, and so on as investments in human capital," Gary Becker notes. "They are called human capital because people cannot be separated from their knowledge, skills, health, or values in the way they can be separated from their financial and physical assets" (2002, para II.3.2). As the saying goes, even if you lose your money, at least you've got your health. But for how long?.
