Abstract
The heat transfer, fluid flow, and the solidified surface profiles during GMA fillet welding were investigated. The equations of conservation of mass, momentum, and energy were solved using a boundary fitted curvilinear coordinate system. By minimizing the total surface energy the deformation of the weld pool surface was calculated. An application of the model to GMA fillet welding of mild steel was also described.
