Abstract

The effectiveness of information system integration is recognized as a critical factor for the success of integrating supply chain systems (SCSs). Heterogeneous information integration is referred to as information synthesis of different information and data sources across disparate systems on the supply chain. In this paper, we present an agent-based framework for ease of information integration by taking into consideration SCS unique characteristics. Formal models of domain ontology and knowledge base are proposed aimed at providing the foundation for representing heterogeneous information using a common and standard semantics. A method of translation and aggregation of different ontologies is introduced to ensure that information integration would be conducted more efficiently.
