Abstract

The BiScO3-Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O 3-PbTiO3 [BS-PMN-PT] solid solution system has been investigated. The morphotropic phase boundary [MPB] in this ternary system was found to trace-out a nearly straight line between the two binary MPB compositions, BS-0.64PT and PMN-0.33PT. The addition of BS increases the Curie temperature, Tc, and decreases the piezoelectric coefficient, d 33, of the MPB composition PMN-0.33PT.
