Abstract

The BiScO₃-Pb(Mg_1/3Nb_2/3)O ₃-PbTiO₃ [BS-PMN-PT] solid solution system has been investigated. The morphotropic phase boundary [MPB] in this ternary system was found to trace-out a nearly straight line between the two binary MPB compositions, BS-0.64PT and PMN-0.33PT. The addition of BS increases the Curie temperature, T_c, and decreases the piezoelectric coefficient, d ₃₃, of the MPB composition PMN-0.33PT.
