Abstract
Palliative care aims to improve patients’ and their families’ the quality of life. Palliative care is increasingly used in many medical conditions, especially in patients with cancer and other chronic illnesses. Palliative care expenses can be covered by private health insurance companies and federal Medicare and Medicaid programs. More and more cancer patients will benefit from palliative care in the future. Hospital-based, community-based, and home-based palliative care will all be utilized significantly in the coming decades.
