Abstract
The Analytic Hierarchy Process has been applied in diverse decision making areas since it was introduced. However, human judgment inconsistency in pairwise comparison, especially under time pressure, poses problems for the application of AHP to determine choice preferences. Therefore a partial pairwise AHP method is proposed, which uses a partial number of pairwise comparisons and in turn reduces human judgment inconsistency. Using computer simulation and human subject experimentation, the results show that ppAHP provides a reasonable overall rank of alternatives with relatively less cognitive efforts. Consequently, the proposed approach becomes more practical for large sizes or time pressed decision problems.
