Abstract
Humanistic approaches feature or emphasize history and tradition, conceptual analysis, interpretation, and social action. Common humanistic HCI practices include interaction criticism, critical discourse analysis, critical social science, design futuring, and emancipatory HCI. Researchers frame their thinking on humanistic HCI as a dialogue between humanistic practices and HCI research.
