N2 - Contrary to prior expectations that warming would cause mass addition averaged over the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets and over the next century, the ice sheets appear to be losing mass, at least partly in response to recent warming. With warming projected for the future, additional mass loss appears more likely than not.
