N2 - Use of remote sensing and data logging systems in environmental applications have become increasingly common in recent years. This paper describes two current projects at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (A&M-CC) that support research activities in several areas, including vegetation detection, oceanography, geographic information systems, coastal science studies, water quality in shallow water areas, and contaminated surroundings. The first project involves developing an Airborne Multi-Spectral Imaging System using digital cameras that provide high resolution at very high rates. The second project involves developing a remotely-operated shallowwater boat equipped with onboard computers, water quality instruments, GPS, digital compass, a remote control receiver, and a receiver/transmitter radio. Acquired data is transmitted wirelessly to a docking and control station.
