Abstract
This paper focuses on the attempt to implement Japanese manufacturing technology, viz. zero inventories (ZI) and just-in-time production (JIT) in Chinese manufacturing industries with the objective of raising productivity. In order to study the implications of JIT in Chinese manufacturing industries, a method of analysis is presented for the implementation of ZI and JIT with a view to identifying their suitability and reliability in that environment. In addition, suggestions are given for the successful implementation of ZI and JIT in China.
