Abstract

OSA's International Council funded an 11 day trip to the Kyrgyz Republic by a professor of engineering science and mechanics at Pennsylvania State University. Professor toured the country, lecturing on sculptured thin films, observing the culture and sampling kabobs. The national languages are Kyrgyz and Russian, both written in Cyrillic characters, although Kyrgyz is a Turkic tongue.
