Abstract
A strain measure which gives a much improved prediction of the normal stress ration in shear is proposed. However, given the idealized nature of their model, and the sensitivity of such quantities as the normal stress ratio to details of the deformation process, a calculation more faithful to the physical proposal seems warranted. This paper presents the results of a more realistic calculation of the strain measure Q(E) resulting from nonaffine motion of entanglement points after a step strain.
