Abstract

Research libraries are in a time of major transitions and changes. Research library leadership is also transitioning. This article will define transition, explore its many manifestations, and provide strategies and tools for institutions and individuals dealing with transitional environments. Transition provides special opportunities and challenges for research libraries moving forward, not only at the administrative level but at all levels of the organization.
