Abstract
A review of the four models which are used to describe inclusion formation in steel welds, was presented. These models included the simple fixed oxidation sequence model, thermodynamic model, thermodynamic-kinetic model, and thermodynamic-kinetic-fluid flow model. The weld metal composition effects were addressed with multicomponent, multiphase-thermodynamic calculations. Limitations of the current inclusion models and needs for future work on inclusion formation were highlighted.
