Abstract
This article reports on the result of a study of optimizing programming assignments based on data collected through the use of a self-contained assignment generation and submission system. Using data collected by the system, we were able to increase the student success rate by modifying the course structure after identifying student bottlenecks. The value of the study is in demonstrating how collecting online statistics of student usage may enable the iterative optimization of course delivery.
