Inferring wind direction from the organization of mesoscale atmospheric signatures in RADARSAT imagery

Abstract

A spectrally based method for estimating the surface wind direction from synthetic aperture radar imagery is presented. The method is applied to a case in which ground-truth wind measurements are available and limitations of the procedure are discussed.
