Abstract
The effect of en masse material properties of stored medium on measured thermally induced lateral pressures was examined in this study. The stored cohesionless granular materials considered were, density sand, shelled corn (maize), wheat and grain sorghum. The material property variables considered were bulk specific gravity, porosity, and internal friction angle. Of these variables bulk specific gravity had the most influence on lateral pressures. A linear correlation for thermally induced stresses, temperature drops and of stored material was obtained.
