Abstract
Raman measurements were performed on single-phase samples of Bi2.1Sr1.9-xLaxCuOy (0x1.0) and Bi2-xPbxSr2CuOy (0.05x0.6). Significant modifications of the spectra, becoming more pronounced with increasing x, are noted with respect to the undoped Bi2Sr2CuOy in the energy ranges of 450465 cm-1 and 610650 cm-1. The experimental results provide important data related to the origin of the incommensurate modulation structure and its relation to the superconductivity of the Bi2Sr2CuOy system.
