The benefits and challenges of interaction of Information Technology (IT) with public administration are discussed. The benefits of IT to public administration (PA) include enhanced access to government information and services, and increased efficiency as a supplier of public services. The challenges include overcoming the digital divide within the population and within various government entities. It is believed that the response of public administration to these opportunities and challenges will impact democratic participation and citizen access to government information and services.
