Instructional design considerations for digital badges

Abstract

This chapter shares instructional design principles from practice and experience to create guidelines for digital badge designs. Typical aspects of instructional design such as needs assessment, design and development, and assessment of badges are examined. Unique systemic considerations such as tasks per badge, badge families and structure, meta-badges, and learning paths are addressed. At the conclusion of this chapter the reader will have a better understanding of the design considerations to use when creating digital badges.
