Abstract
The demands placed on current engineering graduates dictate that they be well versed not only in the numerical and computational aspects of computers, but also their utilization in an experimental environment. This paper presents an effort undertaken at Penn State to integrate the microcomputer into the mechanical engineering laboratory experience in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The operation of five laboratories and two ancillary facilities is discussed. An overview of each laboratory and the related mechanical engineering courses is presented to illustrate the integration of the microcomputer into the laboratory curriculum.
