Abstract
The interpersonal circumplex (IPC) is an empirically derived and validated structural model of interpersonal functioning at multiple levels that serves as a key conceptual map for the contemporary interpersonal paradigm in clinical psychology. Through 60 years of interpersonal theory and research, the IPC has evolved into a metastructure based on the constructs of agency and communion with integrative implications for all aspects of clinical science and practice. The IPC provides a comprehensive system to view and understand the whole person via individual differences, psychological processes, and relational dynamics.
