Abstract
This chapter uses contemporary integrative interpersonal theory (CIIT; Dawood et al., Contemporary integrative interpersonal theory of personality. In: Zeigler-Hill V, Shackleford T (eds) The SAGE handbook of personality and individual differences – vol 1: the science of personality and individual differences. Sage, Los Angeles, pp 171–202, 2018; Pincus, A contemporary integrative interpersonal theory of personality disorders. In: Lenzenweger M, Clarkin JF (eds) Major theories of personality disorder, 2nd edn. Guilford, New York, pp 282–331, 2005; Hopwood et al., Curr Opin Psychol 41:65–70, 2021) as an integrative nexus to provide an interpersonal diagnosis of schizotypy. First, we go over the six principles of CIIT and summarize how CIIT conceptualizes the interpersonal situation, function and dysfunction, and other dynamics of personality and psychopathology. Next, we use the interpersonal situation framework to articulate interpersonal dynamics of the six key features of schizotypy, based on evidence from multimethod psychopathology research. We conclude with an integration of how these features manifest across interpersonal situations.
