Abstract
The present work deals with an investigation of the CaO-SiO//2-P//2O//5 system under low-temperature hydration conditions in order to look for any new compositions for CBC development. Parts of the CaO-SiO//2-P//2O//5-H//2O system have been investigated by scores of scientists for a long time. Barrett and McCaughey had systematically investigated the phase equilibria of the CaO-SiO//2-P//2O//5 system and reported the formation of two ternary compounds, namely, nagelschmidite and silicocarnotite. Their phase diagram above 1000 degree C presented several interesting features including a large critobalite field, an extensive region of liquid immiscibility, solid solutions, and a CaO-rich region where most of the reactivity is confined in this system. 12 Refs.
