Abstract

Accurate pressure measurements of the contents in pipes or tanks are useful in several applications. However, internally mounted sensors are not permissible in some cases. Therefore, external clamp-on transducers are preferred. In this work, two approaches have been considered. One approach examined changes in ultrasonic signals reflected from the fluid-vessel interface. The other approach examined the resonance frequency of the media inside the pressure vessel. A two-dimensional finite element model of the resonance frequency measurement has also been studied.
