Abstract
The design principles of a Java-based graphical interactive software package, J-DES, for analysis and synthesis of discrete event systems (DES) were studied. The software was designed for analysis of supervisory control algorithms for the DES, that were modeled by finite state automata. It also provided quantitative evaluation of the control system performance by taking advantage of language measures.
