Abstract
A report is presented of the key issues raised at a review meeting to discuss possible revisions in the research programme. The expected contact size calculated was found to be relatively insensitive to the separation of the contacting surfaces investigated. A simple microcontact analysis could be used for investigating various asperity types occurring in specified proportions by including the mean modified Young's modulus instead of the value used for the case of single asperity types. It was assumed that the microgeometry is not a function of the asperity type.
