Abstract
The kinetics of ferrite to austenite phase transformation during welding of 1005 steel was discussed. The phase transformation was determined by a combination of phase mapping using x-ray diffraction, and transport phenomenon based numerical modeling. The resulting kinetic data of phase transformation can be used for the calculation of phase transformation rates under various thermal cycles for 1005 steel.
