Abstract
Simultaneous measurement of the changes in sample temperature and weight was made during the course of the reduction. The reaction was found to be topochemical. The sample temperature was initially observed to be about 300 degree C higher than the surroundings and gradually decreased toward the end of the reaction. The data obtained are in agreement with the transport controlled mechanism involving molecular diffusion of H//2 and H//2O through the film boundary and the porous MnO layer.
