Abstract
Kluyvera cryocrescens, most commonly isolated from the environment and initially thought to be a saprophytic microorganism, has emerged as a virulent pathogen. Kluyvera, identified in 1981 as member of the Enterobacteriaceae family, are catalase-positive, oxidase-negative, gram-negative rods. Over the years, numerous case reports have been published with clinically significant Kluyvera infections, most being K ascorbata. To date, there are approximately 10 case reports of K cryocrescens, only 2 of which are urinary tract infections. We report the third case of K cryocrescens urinary tract infection.
