    Abstract

Least squares algorithms are presented to provide linear computation of rigid body velocity and acceleration descriptors based on position, velocity, and acceleration data for individual points on the body. Specifically, the instant screw axis (ISA) and the angular acceleration axis (AAA) are described. Results from a simple laboratory experiment are presented as an example of the efficacy of the methods.
