Abstract
Project management is a unique challenge requiring its own strategy and methodology. It requires people willing to function as leaders in every sense of the word. Aside from charting the appropriate course, they must also provide the means, the support and the confidence for their members to attain these goals. For successful project managers, there will always be a conflict between the demands of technical training and an understanding of human resource needs. In assessing the relative importance of each challenge, the human side the project should be clearly more important. As research and practice demonstrate, project management challenges primarily revolves around effective personnel management.
