Abstract

A simple phenomenological theory was developed to describe linear viscoelasticity in bidisperse linear melts. The single-chain relaxation spectrum was discussed using a local description of relaxation times along the chain, which includes contour-length fluctuations and reptative motion. The predictions for the modulus were shown to fit data of binary blends of polybutadiene better than of the widely used double reptation model.
