Abstract
Four groups of hybrid 45-mm bore angular contact ball bearings having VIMVAR N50 steel rings and silicon nitride ceramic balls were endurance tested at four thrust loads ranging from 4. 45 kN (1000 lb) to 9. 56 kN (2150 lb). The experimental L//1//0 life was found to vary as a power function of load but with a higher exponent than is generally attributed to all steel bearings.
