Abstract

An analytical study was conducted to establish the viability of using basic strengthening relationships for ascertaining local strength within the heat affected zone for precipitation strengthened aluminum alloys. Evidence was obtained indicating that the Orowan relationship can be considered as a fair description for the loss of yield strength within the heat affected zone for the studied alloy.
