Abstract
The sonographic appearances of benign (normal and reactive) and malignant (metastatic and lymphomatous) lymph nodes can be explained by an understanding of normal nodal anatomy and nodal pathophysiology. This article reviews the sonographic features of benign and malignant regional (axillary, infraclavicular, internal mammary, and supraclavicular) lymph nodes. As axillary lymph nodes are those most frequently involved in patients with breast cancer, this review focuses mainly on axillary lymph nodes.
