Abstract

Micromechanical cantilever magnetometers were employed to study the magnetization of conduction electrons and Mn+2 ions in (Zn,Cd,Mn)Se two-dimensional electron gases (2DEG). The interaction between the 2D electrons in (Zn,Cd,Mn)Se quantum well with the local magnetic moments of the Mn2+ ions was investigated. The interaction resulted in a large conduction band spin splitting dominating over the cyclotron energy.
