Abstract

The epitaxial growth of Ni/Co/Cu thin films on MgO (001) and (111) substrates was studied. The samples with larger Co thickness were found to had a more abundant relaxed-lattice content of Co, enhancing the magnetocrystalline anisotropy contribution. The uniaxial magnetic anisotropy in the thinner samples was reduced as the thickness increased.
