Abstract

Research on mass customization of ceramic tableware is presented. We document a first attempt to implement a system of mass customization, through the development of a design system into a shape grammar that automatically generates tableware elements, its computational implementation through parametric modelling, and subsequent production through digital fabrication technology, namely 3d printing. This first experience acts as a mockup for intended subsequent research involving local ceramic industry.
