Abstract
It is assumed that most of the oxygen supplied as O//2 initially goes to oxidize chromium to Cr//2O//3 and this in turn oxidizes carbon. The effects of reduced top pressure, oxygen/argon ratio in the inlet gas, and steam injection on the trends of carbon and chromium oxidation are examined.
